Rob Bertin

                             Principal and Founder


Rob brings perspectives from 19 years as a partner at top law firms to help large and small businesses efficiently and effectively navigate a wide range of intellectual property (IP) matters.   


He has represented clients in some of the most complex and significant patent and technology acquisition matters in the high tech industry, including the purchase and sale of Motorola Mobility, the purchase of Nortel Networks' patent assets out of bankruptcy and the purchase and licensing of Kodak's Digital imaging patent portfolio.  


He has successfully tried cases in Federal District Court and at the International Trade Commission and led dozens of litigations involving patent, trademark, copyright, and related issues. He has also handled cases at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and post grant proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.


An active participant in bar organizations, Rob has held the Chair and Amicus Curiae Chair positions for the Patent, Trademark and Copyright section of the Bar Association of DC.  He has also Chaired the Committee on Ethics in the Patent Profession within the Patent Division of the IP Section of the American Bar Assn.  


Rob's practice has been recognized by his peers through his election as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and selection by Super Lawyers as a top IP attorney in Washington, DC (2013 – 2018).
 

Rob began his career as an engineer at IBM’s Federal Systems Division, where he designed radiation hardened semiconductor chips for satellites. He has been awarded two US Patents for his work at IBM.
